A plantation program in the Peruvian Amazon traded a sample-based inventory for a full-stand census: every tree counted rather than estimated from a dozen plots, so the volume and legal-origin figures in the management plan are measured, not projected — numbers that hold up when a buyer or an auditor checks them independently.
